Sprint Needs New Customer Service People!!!!

I have been a Sprint PCS customer for over 8 years with no issues from them at all. Well that changed this week. Today they sent me the wrong phone to replace my broken one. The associates at the local Sprint store had gave me a loner phone until I recieved my new Samsung phone. Unfortunately the ticket had not been processed yet so when they did the claim the LG phone was listed as my phone even though it was a loner from the store. When I called Sprint no one could seem to help me. I kept getting transfered to someone else. I have a Samsung Moment they sent me a LG phone. They kept telling me that since I bought the phone (LG) from the store I had to go back there. I kept telling them that I did not buy that phone it was a loner. So I went back to the Sprint store and one of the associates called after about 30 minutes everything was straightened out. Somewhat. I had to take the wrong phone that they sent me across town to the UPS store to return it to sender. But UPS won't return anything to sender that is open. I now have to pay to ship back a phone I should not have received in the first place. So now I am out a phone for a week because of there new policy that does not allow them to do exchanges at the store level. Looks like I will be looking for a new carrier.

Last night was a lot of fun. At Girl Scouts they learned about the Law by making a bookmark with different colored beads that represent each line of the law. Then we made a campfire out of food. Marshmallows for rocks (outer circle), Red hots for the hot coals, pretzel twists for wood, and candy corn for the flames. The girls seemed to have a great time. Next week we will be getting back in to the wonderful story in their Journey Books.

For the Juniors, they were suppose to make a musical instrument at home. Ana made a xylophone out of metal washers, string, and a wooden dowel. She stunk up the bathroom when she painted the washers with finger nail polish. But it looks great.

As for today is going to be fun. Going to be in class tonight from 6 - 10pm for re-certification for Adult, Child, and Infant CPR with AED. For Girl Scouts we have to have one leader that has this certification in order to do any over night trips with the girls. Also great thing to know if you have small children at home that love to stuff as much food as possible into their mouth. I have had to help Lisa a few times when she has put to much in her mouth. It didn't seem to matter how small I would cut stuff up she would still put as much as possible in her mouth. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with children.

2009/2010 Has been an exciting year!

I know it has been awhile since my last post. It has been a scary/exciting year.

Since last April 09 I have been working on getting my body back in shape. Everything was going great with exercising, counting calories and losing weight until August. We had drove down to Madison for a house warming party for the weekend. Since I wasn't feeling good Saturday morning we had gotten started late. The rest of the day wasn't bad. We had a great time at the party and then spent the night at a friends instead of driving home that night. I had awoke at about 2:00am with the sensation to wanna pass out. This went on for 3 hrs. Scariest time ever. It is not the first time this has happened. The last time I had actually passed out and hit my head and knee when I fell. I am so glad Brian has always been there when this has happened. I was finally able to get some sleep at about 5 am. First thing on Monday I called the doctor to schedule an appointment. After seeing the doctor he recommeded that I go and see a Cardiologist. I am currently seeing the Cardiologist on a regular schedule. After all the tests I went through, I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome in January. What that means is my heart can't adjust quick enough to any volume/fluid loss or displacement within the body. So going from laying down to standing or bending at the knees to standing causes my pulse to go from about 60 to 120 bpm. Hope this make sense. I will be on heart meds for the rest of my life. It won't kill me just make me uncomfortable. I have heard it is almost like having heart failure. Constantly tired, walking up a flight of stairs is exhausting. I am still working on my energy levels by exercising, drinking enough water, and eating right. So far I have lost 80 pounds and working on the last 40. I see a nutrionist about once a month to check in. Making sure I am exercising and eating the right amount.

Girl Scouts is going great. I am a Daisy Troop Leader this year with 12 girls in my troop. I am also still doing Product Sales for the Riversmeet Service Area. Which includes Eau Claire, Altoona, Elk Mound, and Fall Creek. Keeps me hopping! We are just finishing up on Fall Product Sales and getting started on Cookie Sales. Just so you know Cookie Sales are January 21st through February 6th, 2011. If I have your contact info Ana will be calling/stopping by for orders. We will also be having Cookie Booths at local venues in March and April if you run out and need more. Thank you to all that have supported her in previous years.

Okay on to the family from small to tall:

Lisa is doing great. We have had a few bumps in the road over the last year. Over the summer she was having issues with keeping her eye pressure with in normal levels. She now has to be given eye drops 2x a day in each eye. So far it has been keeping the pressure down where it needs to be. She also has new pink glasses. Sooo cute. This way she will be able to have close up and distance. Unfortunately she does have to wear both contacts and glasses in order to get both they way the doctor wants. It has taken a few weeks but I have finally gotten her to keep them on most of the time. She is already for preschool by knowing her Alphabet by sight, Colors, Numbers, and Shapes. Even knows her Right from her Left foot. So proud of her. :)

Ana is in 5th grade this year and her last at Longfellow, next year on to middle school. She is going up so fast. Everything seems to be going pretty well for her. Not having any trouble in school. She also has been put in some advanced classes. Ana still loves reading books or anything she can get her hands on. She is working on Percy Jackson series right now. Most of the time she will finish a 300 page book in less than a week. So proud of her and how she has grown up. Ana has become more aware of how her attitude and choices affects not only herself but others. There has been many days she has helped with Lisa when I have not been at 100%. Love her. :)

Brian has finished his second book and is now an editor at Pragmatic Publishing. Between work and home life he is a busy man. Lucky for me I have a great husband that does everything he has too to give us what we need. Love Him. :)

It has been awhile

I know it has been a while since I have last wrote. Lisa is now 20 months old. She is doing great with walking and is saying new words everyday. Her newest word is "Husssshhh" when we read her " Good Night Moon". Even though the last few days she has fussed a little before story time. As soon as Brian starts reading she calms down. She has been having troubles with her lack of depth perception. Running into things, falling, or reaching for objects that are a few inches away. I have discussed this with her case worker from Birth to 3. Lisa will be having a visual evaluation done soon. I was very unhappy that her doctor just wanted to watch and see if it got worse. I guess I will have to do the work to get her what she needs. Can't wait for them to get off of their a**. But other than that little bump in the road Lisa is doing great.

Ana has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety. After having troubles with her the last two years and no cooperation from the school. I had her evaluated on my own. I have lived with having ADHD my whole life. I wish my mom would have been more proactive with me and got me the help I needed when I was in grade school. I want Ana to be able to do what ever she chooses to do with her life and not be held back by this. I know how hard it was for me not being able to concentrate enough to even remember what someone had said to me just second earlier. It is not that I did not want to listen, I really tried. Ana has decided she wants to be a Geologist when she grows up. I am so proud of her. We went to Borders tonight and I picked up a couple of books for her first one was on Gems and the other on Minerals. She keeps her favorite rocks in her room on a shelf and the rest are outside in a bag. Pretty soon that bag is going to be completely full. LOL.

Brian is busy juggling between work and family. I try to make it a little easier on him by making sure all of everything else is taken care of. That way he has a few hours of relaxing with the girls or playing video games. He does so much for the family that is the least I can do. Brian is such a great husband and loving father. The last few months that I have been sick and in and out of the doctors office. Brian has been there for me the whole time. Taking care of the house and kids for a week so I could get over dehydration. I am the luckiest person on earth.

As for me I am volunteering with Girl Scouts again this year and enjoying every minute. I have 11 girls in my troop this year. All have different personalities and a joy to be with. We recently went on a camp out at Camp Nawakwa in Cornell, WI. All of the girls got along great and we had a blast. They built a fire, cook dinner, made smores, made necklaces, had a puppet show, went on a nature hike, had a talent show, and did the ropes course. Wow that was a lot just for an overnight stay. In the next month, I have planned for them to tour Cold Stone Creamery. They will be able to make their own sundaes. Mmmmmm. Also a representative from RCU Bank will be coming to talk to them about finances. Who doesn't like money and a Halloween party. All of the girls are excited to show off their costumes. I can't wait to see them. It is going to be a great year.

Update

Lisa will be 9 months next Friday. Wow, where has the time gone. She had an eye appointment last week. Doc said everything looks good and he would see her in April. Yeah!
She has started hard solids, Cheerios. She has started to crawl with her arms and clap her hands.
It won't be long and she will be a year old.
I have taken on the responsibility of the Brownie Troop at Ana's School. It is a small group of 5 girls this year. I will be taking a CPR-Adult, Child, and Infant with First Aid class the beginning of November. I have been battling a cold for almost 2 weeks and hope that is it over by the time of the Reba Concert on the 24th.
Ana is doing well in school and enjoys everyday. Brian is keeping busy with his book writing. Also working at the University.

Surgery #6

Lisa has just finish her 6th surgery. She was very calm this morning, even though she was not able to eat. I was more on edge this surgery for some reason. The surgery took a bit little longer then the previous ones. The scar tissue was harder to remove and there was some trouble getting her IV put into place. They ended up putting the IV in her foot. So they of course had to take her shoes off, unfortunately she does not have any more time left for today. So I was a little irritated about that, but what can you do. She usually has one hour in the morning and another at night. That way we can keep her bedtime routine. She was cold when I first got her, So I had the nurse check and her temp was 96. We put a warm blanket on and that seemed to do the trick. After that we stayed for a little longer before they discharged Lisa. Now that we are back at the hotel, Lisa is relaxing. Brian is working on different projects and I am blogging. I really hope that this is the last one. Lisa will be meeting with the doctor tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. Then Lisa and I will be back here next week for a check up. I am really happy to be able to stay home with her. She loves it when I sing to her. Most of the time she would stop eating just to listen. :)

Surgery Part 2 / Wedding

We met with the doctor the following morning. Lisa's right eye is looking great after the surgery. She has formed more scare tissue in her left eye. It is not in her line of sight right now so I have decided that she is not going to have another surgery right now. We go back to the doctors on the 24th of July to have everything looked at. If it has gotten worse, we will be doing surgery then. So everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed.
We left Marshfield about 6:30 a.m to get to Monroe early enough for the wedding. We arrived in Monroe about 10 a.m. I went to get my hair done and then headed over to Claudia's. I styled Ana's hair and then headed to the church. We were suppose to meet some people at 12 p.m. We were running late so we didn't get any lunch. When we got to the church the people we were suppose to meet decided to get lunch and didn't show up till 12:45 p.m. That was a little irritating, I could have stopped for lunch. Well anyway, the wedding went well. We went to the reception and had a nice time visiting with the family. Sunday we went home and met some friends for lunch in Madison. It was great to see everyone.

Surgery #5

Lisa had another surgery today to remove a lens fragment in her right eye. The surgery went well but the doctor is concerned about her left eye. He wants me to start putting drops in it again for dilation. I didn't have to much time to talk to him. Lisa has a check up in the morning, so I will talk to him then about it. She is sleeping off the medication from the surgery right now. After the check up we will be driving to Monroe, WI. It is about a 4 hour drive from Marshfield, WI. My father-in-law will be marring a friend of mine that I have known for 15 years. Both of us are in the wedding so we are meeting the doctor at 6:15 a.m to ensure we will get to Monroe on time. Ana, Brian and I are sitting here watching cartoons. Ana is going to go swimming in a little bit. She was excited when I told her to bring her swimsuit.Well I didn't sleep well last night so I am going to take a nap.

Doctor Visit

Over the last couple of month I have been having problems with becoming light headed when standing. It wasn't anything serious. But I finally went to the doctor on Tuesday this week. The doc did a different tests and took my blood pressure. When I would go from sitting to standing my blood pressure would drop 15 points. She was a little worried about that so she decided to due a series of blood tests. Almost everything came back normal. My Liver enzymes were elevated by 5 points. Not sure how bad/good that is but I have to go back in 3 months to have it rechecked. Not sure if I should be concerned. I figure if it was really that bad the doc would have made me come in to do more blood test now. So I am just going to go on with my life until something happens.

End of Weekend

Brian arrived home about 8:30 p.m from Portland, OR. I was so happy to see him. Ana went to bed on her own tonight. She has grown up so much this year. She is a wonderful big sister. Lisa loves when her and Ana are in the car together. On our way home from Chicago a couple of weekends ago Lisa a was crying. Ana calmed her down and she then fell asleep. I am so happy to have such a wonderful daughter. She has her days like all people but most of them are good. I picked her up from school today and she told me that she hopes that she isn't in the same class as one of her friends. She said because this person distracts her during class. I was so surprised. I don't know any 8 year olds that would say that.

Lisa had her visit with the people from the Birth to 3 program. They were very happy with her progress. She is almost sitting up on her own, grabbing at toys, and is exploring everything with her mouth. They talked about different things I could do with her to help in her development.

5 Days with the Kids - Day 1

Brian left for Portland, OR today. He will be presenting at "Rails Conference". We both went last year but with Lisa having to wear contacts and the shoes I am uncomfortable with leaving her with anyone right now. She needs a lot of special time. I am going to miss him but I just keep reminding myself that it is only till Monday. It started off as a great night. I picked Ana up from school at 2:50 p.m and we went to Shopko to pick up a prescription. I purchased a disposable camera for Ana to take on her field trip tomorrow. She is going to the Minnesota Zoo and Museum. I ordered pizza for supper and we watched " Curious George". I love this movie. Then I asked her to go and take a shower and she becomes defiant. She finally gets in the shower and is in there for a long time so I went in there to get her out. She starts screaming that there is no towel. So I told her to get out and get one out of the closet. Then she finally got dresses and I asked her to make her lunch for her trip tomorrow and she got irritated about that. Because she couldn't take anything cold. I am not sure what was going on so I sent her to her room to calm down. I went up and had a talk with her and I told her that when she calms down to come back down stairs so I could spend time with her. She finally did about 20 minutes later. We ended the night on a good note with stories and prayers.

Chicago Weekend

This last weekend we took a long drive to Chicago, IL. I took my mother to see Daniel O'Donnell for her 60th birthday present. We left about 7 am and got to the hotel about 2 p.m. The hotel was nice but it definately needed some improvements. The bathroom was very small and there was no trash can in there. There was only one wash cloth for two beds and the sink did not have a way to plug it. So it made it a little hard to wash the baby bottles. It was right down town and not far from the concert hall. So a cab was only $7.00 one way. The show was good if you like that type of music. My mom was on the edge of her seat all night. I am glad that she enjoyed the concert. Saturday started off nice. We left the hotel about 9 a.m or so and got a little lost. So we call Brian's aunt and she gave us directions to her house. Most of the day was spent just relaxing. Anne had a cookout at 3 p.m for family that wanted to see us and meet Lisa. Sunday we got up early and headed over to the hospital to see baby Jack. He was born 3 1/2 month early because of complications. He is doing well now but still touch and go. Bridget (Jack's Mom) is doing a wonderful job making sure he gets everything he needs. He is one lucky little man. They aren't expecting him to come home anytime before his due date in July. I was so glad that we were able to get to see him and I am sure that Bridget was happy to see Brian. I wish her all the love and luck in the world. After the visit we headed back to Anne's to pick up my mom and head for home. We got home just when the warning sirens where going off. So I asked Brian to check and see what was going on. There was a tornado warning. We hurried and got the car unloaded and went to the basement. The storm was over in about 45 minutes and all was well.

Birth to Three

An Occupational Therapist from the Birth to Three Program came over yesterday and played with Lisa. She gave me different ideas that I can work with Lisa on to keep her meeting her developmental milestones. It was a wonderful visit and Lisa enjoyed the extra play time. We are preparing for are weekend drive to Chicago to go to a concert and to see some family. I am taking my mother to see Daniel O'Donnell for her 60th birthday. My husband and Lisa will be coming with us. Brian is unable to take Lisa's contacts out, he is afraid that if he dropped one that he wouldn't be able to see it. But he helps out with my older daughter, so everything evens out. Enjoy your weekend.

Birthday

Friday was my 27th Birthday. My husband stayed home and spent the day with me. He is such a wonderful man. Megan a wonderful friend drove 3 hours to come and spend the weekend with me. We had a nice lunch together with a bunch of friends and then went shopping. Then Saturday was the birthday party. It was wonderful to be able to spend time with friends, and just catch up. Then today my husband bought a bunch of flowers for me to plant outside in the garden. It was wonderful to be outside digging in the dirt. The flower beds look beautiful, and full of color. It has been a long time since I have been able to get outside to do some yard work. Lisa is a mommy's girl, so it is really hard for me to leave the house. Most of the time she cries when I leave. I feel really bad for my husband when he can't calm her down. He usually ends up handing her to me when she gets that way. But it is getting late and I have to get up early to take my husband to work. Good Night

Eye Doctor

Lisa had her check up with Dr. Anderson on Thursday. Unfortunately the news he gave me was not good. Lisa has a fragment of lens still in her eye from the cataract surgery. He had warned us before Lisa had her first surgery that this might happen. Even though we had discussed this happening it was still hard to hear that my 3 month old would have to go though her 5th eye surgery. The doctor is hoping that the lens will go away on its own. I can't believe I am writing that sentence. If the lens hasn't went away in the last 2 months, why would it in the next month? So Dr. Anderson wanted to set up a surgery date and have us come in with Lisa the morning of so he could look at her eye. If it was still there he would do surgery that day. The one day he could do it just happened to be the day before my father-in-law was getting married and both my husband and I are in the wedding. Needless to say my daughter comes first but there is a 4 hour drive from the surgery center to where the wedding is being held. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't need to see her the day after the surgery ( day of the wedding). So that is going to make for one long day. I just hope that if she does have to have surgery, that is goes easier than the last one. Since the first surgery, the effects of the medication have made her more irritable each time after the surgery. I know we don't have it as bad as some parents. But it is still hard to see your baby go through surgery. It was a long drive back from the doctors, all I thought about was that she might have to go through another surgery. She is such a sweet little girl.

History

Just a little background information. I am a mother of two girls one is 8 and the other is 4 months old. It has been a long 4 months so far. Lisa was born with Aphatic Congenital Cataracts and Bilateral Clubfoot. She is doing really well. My husband and I were expecting her to have the cataracts but were not ready to hear that she also had clubfoot. She underwent her first surgery at 2 weeks old for the cataracts. Lisa was also has casts on both legs for the first 9 weeks and now wears a shoes with a brace to keep them at the right angle for 23 hours a day. She ended up having to have 4 surgeries total. After the first two surgeries, scar tissue had formed in her pupil area in both eyes. She now has contacts in both eyes that corrects for her not having the natural lens. We had heard a lot about Interocular Lens Implants. But the medical profession had only been doing them in babies for a couple of years. Even if we had decided to do that she would have had to wear contacts anyway. With her vision changing so much in the first few years my husband and I decided to just have Lisa wear contacts. The doctor was able to leave the capsule in which the lens sits in. Which means that when Lisa is an adult she will be able to get a Interocular Lens Implant if she chooses. We tried to read up on congenital cataracts, but there just isn't much information. Most of the articles out there are for children that have cataracts because of a disease. Down syndrome or some other condition. I am thankful that my husband and father-in-law both have this condition and know what to expect. I don't know what I would do if this is the first time I had seen it. It is still hard to see your newborn go through this. The first weekend was the worst and then progressively got easier. She currently has a cloudy area forming on the top of the Iris. She will be going to the doctor in a couple of days to have it checked out. I am hopping for the best but expecting the worst. Lisa is a happy baby despite all that has happened to her over the last few months. I have enrolled her in the Birth to 3 program. They will have an Occupational Therapist and a teacher come and visit every 2 weeks. They will work with her to make sure that she is meeting her developmental milestones. So far she is meeting them. I work with her during the day and my husband does during playtime at night. We have her on a set schedule, every night at 7 p.m she has her shoes off till 8 p.m. After I put the shoes back on we go in the bathroom to remove her contacts. Then she gets her last bottle of the night and falls asleep in my arms by 9 p.m and then sleeps till about 7:30 or 8 a.m. She is a wonderful little girl. She only cries when her diaper needs changing, hungry, or has a tummy ache from a bubble. Other than that she is always smiling. :) Lisa is a mommy's girl. She is starting to warm up to daddy more. Once she is 2 she will be a daddy's girl just like her older sister.
